Welcome
Hope Vale State School is situated 46km North of Cooktown. The Hope Vale Indigenous Community consists of approximately 1500 people who are administered by an elected council. It is also a Welfare Reform Community.
The school offers a mainstream curriculum in all subject areas and is a Bound for Success Curriculum School. The Hope Vale school community consists of 130 children ranging from Prep to Year 7, who display a wide range of learning styles and associated needs.
The school has both indigenous and non-indigenous staff. Hope Vale State School is dedicated to providing rich and rigorous education experiences which provide the opportunity for every individual to actively engage as learners and reach their full potential.
Complementing this ethos – A Deputy Principal of Behaviour and Curriculum ensures optimal curriculum delivery and pedagogy. A fulltime Special Needs/Learning Support Teacher provides specialised learning programs and student assistance. A reduction in class sizes allows greater student/teacher interaction. A Cultural / LOTE teacher provides fundamental lessons in this communities Home Language and culture – Guugu Yimithirr.
At Hope Vale State School we believe that every child should be valued as an individual and celebrated as a learner.
